The 50th session of the AITC General Assembly

The 50th session of the AITC General Assembly took place last Saturday, June 16, at the John Knox Center.
Thirty-seven members were present and 178 were represented.
The main focus of this General Assembly was, of course, the discussion of the draft agreement reached between the CCS and the AITC following the negotiations on May 30 and 31. There was not enough time to present this new text in detail—which had been received by the secretariat and distributed to members just three days before the General Assembly—but the main points were outlined, and the members of the negotiating delegation who were present were able to answer participants’ questions. The Assembly agreed that the draft agreement was a compromise text, the result of concessions by both parties, and approved it as generally satisfactory, even though it did not meet all of the AITC’s expectations, provided that corrections are made to the points raised by the negotiating delegation and that the delegation receives assurances that no substantive changes will be introduced before ratification by the competent bodies of the future signatory organizations.
The text of the resolution granting conditional approval of the draft agreement (currently available in French only) can be found in the Documents – AG50 section. You will also find in this section the text of the resolution thanking the negotiators, which was adopted by the General Assembly.
The minutes of the General Meeting will be distributed and posted on the website (under the "Documents – AG50" section) in the coming weeks.
The new composition of the AITC's governing bodies on the Association's website (www.aitc.ch) can be consulted in the "Organs" section.
