The 50th session of the AITC General Assembly

The 50th session of the AITC General Assembly took place last Saturday, June 16, at the John Knox Centre.
Thirty-seven members were present and 178 were represented.
The focal point of the AGM was, of course, the discussion of the draft agreement reached between the CCS and the AITC at the close of negotiations on May 30 and 31. There was not enough time to present in detail this new text, which had reached the secretariat and been circulated to members just three days before the AGM, but the main points were outlined and the members of the negotiating delegation who were present were able to answer questions from the floor. The Assembly agreed that the draft agreement was a compromise text, the fruit of concessions on both sides, and approved it as satisfactory overall, although it did not meet all AITC's expectations, subject to rectifications being made to the points raised by the negotiating delegation, and to the latter obtaining assurances that no substantive changes would be introduced prior to ratification by the competent bodies of the future signatory organizations.
The text of the resolution giving conditional approval to the draft agreement (in French only for the moment) can be consulted in the Documents - AG50 section. You will also find in this section the text of the resolution of thanks to the negotiators adopted by the GA.
The minutes of the AGM will be posted on our website (Documents - AG50) in the coming weeks.
The new composition of the AITC bodies on the Association's website (www.aitc.ch) can be consulted in the "Organs" section.
